Marriott Courtyard Biel

Interior design for the new Marriott Courtyard in Biel, Switzerland.
Biel is a wonderful city that is historically famous for its clock industry.
This knowledge of precision and refined engineering has been transmitted through generations to reach the excellence that makes the city’s worldwide fame.
It seemed therefore obvious that this unique aspect of the city should be the inspiration for the new Marriott Courtyard hotel concept.
Through space, shapes, colours and textures, we want to transmit a feeling of industrial elegance.

We wanted to create a central element by associating the bar with the elevators. These 2 functions are brought together with a circular light and library covering the elevators.
This circular shape placed in the center of the space symbolizes the clock mechanism around which the various functions of the reception and the restaurant revolve.
We have treated the Lobby/Reception in the same language by suggesting the gearing of watchmaking with a set of false ceilings and circular suspensions.
